Dedicate your life to something.
To know what counts and what doesn’t,
you have to know what you are dedicating your life to.
There are, of course , no right or wrong answers to this one as it’s a very personal choice-
but it’s really useful to have an answer,
rather than not really knowing.
As an example, my own life has been driven by two things.
1) Someone once told me that if my soul or spirit was the only thing I was likely to be talking with me when I went,
then it ought to be the best thing I had.
2) My curious upbringing. The first one isn’t for me at least,
in anyways religious.
It Just struck a chord with me
triggered something.
Whatever it was I was taking with me,
then perhaps I ought to do a bit of works on it.
Make sure It really is the very best thing about me.
That got me thinking.
How on earth do you go about that?
The answers still is that I haven’t got a clue.
I have explored and experimented ,
learned and made mistakes, been a seeker and a follower,
read and observed and wrestled with this great problem all my life.
How do you go about improving your life on that level?
I think the only conclusion I have come to is to live as decent a life as possible,
to go through causing as little damage as possible,
to treat everyone with whom you come into contact with respect and dignity.
It’s something to dedicate my life to and it works for me.
And how can my curios upbringing cause me to focus on what I am dedicating my life to?
Well, having had a’ dysfunctional upbringing and having chosen to let it motivate me rather than affect me,
I am acutely aware that many people also need to throw off that feeling of being badly affected by what has gone before.
This is what I dedicate my life to.
Yes, it might be crazy, I might be crazy.
But at least I have something I can focus on,
something that counts for me,
Only me.

It’s a yard stick to measure.
How I’m doing.
What I’m doing.
Where I’m going.

When you are kind to others, it not only changes you, it changes the world. Kindness if a seed. Never underestimate what may grow from your small gestures.

A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. A person only gains by helping another person.

Everyone is human. Everyone has feelings. Everyone appreciates a friend

Life is a series of experiences, each of which makes us bigger, even though sometimes it is hard to realise this. For the world was built to develop character, and we must learn that the setbacks and griefs which we endure help us in marching onward. if you measure your experience only by your successes, you will miss the greater value..

People do not lack in strength;they lack in will

Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy. It is never too early to act. But it can quickly become too late.

People do not lack in strength;they lack in will

Be aware of the damage you are doing

Be for the glory, not the degradation

Be part of the solution, not the problem

Check what history would say about you

Not everything can be green

If you are going to be a friend, be a good friend

Accept the differences, embrace what you have in common

Be nice

Maintain good manners in all things

You’ll get older but not necessarily wiser

Be on the side of the angels, not the beasts

I wish I’d done that – and I will

Change what you can change, let go of the rest

Don’t be afraid to dream

No one's perfect

No fear, no surprise, no hesitation, no doubt

Throwing money at a problem doesn’t always work

Respect privacy

Always have someone – or something – that is pleased to see you

Life can be a bit like advertising

Aim to be the very best at everything you do – not second best

The five most essential words for a healthy, vital relationship are, "I apologize" and "you are right."

Everyone seems normal until you get to know them

Never pass up an opportunity to pee

Finish what you start. Many of us are great at starting, crap at finishing. Doesn't matter how smart you are, or how much potential or talent you have, if you only ever half-do stuff; the 'Master of Incompletion'. Success is less about talent and potential, and more about commitment. Have yourself committed. So to speak.e

Don't bullshit yourself. Be honest. You're an idiot at times. And a baby. And a sook. You know it. We all are. This admission is not to be confused with senselessly beating yourself up, no, this is about honest self-assessment and a level of self-awareness that most people will never have. You're biggest challenge will always be you. Maximise your strengths and develop your weaknesses.

Don't make excuses, make plans. Stop talking about it. Start creating it.

Laugh loud and often. If you're not having fun, if you're not happy, try plan B. Too many long faces these days.

Trust and respect those who have earned it. This doesn't mean be paranoid and fearful of those you don't know well, it means what it says. Automatically trusting and respecting people is a recipe for disaster.

Control your emotions, especially anger and fear. When we act out of fear and/or anger we hurt others and ourselves. By the way, angry people get sick.

Life is never fair;get used to it

Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Life is brutal, cruel, unfair and short. Toughe

Enlightenment is not instantaneous. This is why all the wise people in your life -- your parents and professors -- are crusty, cynical, old people.

Your school may have done away with winners and losers but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades, they'll give you as many chances as you want to get the right answer. This, of course, bears not the slightest resemblance to anything in real life.

If you screw up, it's not your parents' fault so don't whine about your mistakes. Learn from them instead.

Before you were born your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way by paying your bills, cleaning your room, and listening to you tell how idealistic you are. So before you save the rain forest from the blood-sucking parasites of your parents' generation, try delousing the closet in your own room first.

Trust me, it's better to make someone happier then angry.

If you think your teacher is tough, wait until you get a boss. He doesn't have tenure and he can terminate you.

Before you write, think.

Before you spend, earn.

Before you invest, investigate.

Before you criticize, wait.

Before you pray, forgive.

Before you quit, try.

Before you retire, save.

Before you die, give.

Have a Plan
A plan is a map,
a guide,
a target,
a focus,
a route,
a signpost,
a direction,
a path
, a strategy.
It says that you are going to go somewhere, do something,
be somewhere by a certain time.
It gives your life structure and shape,
gravitas and downstream as quick as you like.
Ok, so not all plans work out
, not all maps lead to the treasure.
But at least you’re in with a better change if you have a map and a shovel than if you just dig at random- or,
like most people,
don’t dig at all.
A plan indicates you’ve had a bit of a think about your life and aren’t just waiting for something to turn up.
Or, again like most people,
not even thinking about it but going through life perpetually surprised by what happens.
Work out what it is you want to do, plan it,
work out the steps to take to achieve your goal, and get on with it.
If you don’t plan your plan, it will remain a dream.
So what happens if you don’t have a plan?
Well, you reinforce,
to yourself, your sense of being “not in control”.
Once you have a plan everything else falls into place. Once you have a plan,
the logical steps to achieve that plan also become available, accessible.
A plan isn’t a dream-
it’s something you intend doing rather than something you want to do.
And having a plan means you’ve thought through how you’re going to do it.
Of course,
just because you have a plan doesn’t mean that you have to stick with it,
to follow it,
to obey it to the letter come hell or high water.
The plan is always up for review,
for improvement, for changing as and when you need to.
The plan shouldn’t be rigid.
Circumstances change, you change, your plan changes .
The details of the plan don’t matter. Having one does. Having a plan gives you a fall-back position.
When life gets hectic- and boy does it do that sometimes-it is easy to forget what we are here for.
Having a plan means that when the dust settles you can remember.
“Now what was I doing? Oh yes, I remember, my plan was to…”
And off you go again, back on course
